Nichols+Roark’s track continues the pair’s long-running exploration of melodic techno and progressive house, blending organic textures, tribal rhythms, and cinematic melodies.
Inspired by journeys to global music hubs – from the desert expanses of Burning Man to South American beach festivals – Melodica captures the energy of spaces where music, connection, and community dissolve boundaries. At its core, the track is built around haunting male and female vocal chants, layering deep percussion with nostalgic chord progressions to create hypnotic, tribal grooves. Each build represents a meeting point, a harmonic convergence of energies, inviting listeners to pause, breathe, and connect with themselves, others, and the collective energy of the dancefloor.
Crafted over two intensive weekend sessions in their London studio, Nichols+Roark allowed the vocals to shape the track’s rhythmic and harmonic structure. “We wanted it to feel like a dance that could only happen then and there—the kind of moment you remember long after the music stops,” they explain. The result is a production that feels alive, hypnotic, and intensely human.
Melodica has already featured in their recent performances, including Gospel (NYC), Amsterdam Dance Event, Art Basel Miami, and their own SHIFT events – immersive music and arts experiences designed around performance, environment, and connection. Early support has come from All Day I Dream founder Lee Burridge, who premiered the track at Burning Man this year.
With past releases on The Soundgarden, Selador, Mango Alley, Stripped, Balance Music, and Manual, Nichols+Roark continue to push melodic techno forward, creating music that serves as both a dancefloor vehicle and a vessel for collective experience. Melodica is out now on All Day I Dream, inviting listeners to move, breathe, and engage with music that transcends time and place.
