The latest release on Clinique Recordings welcomes Nicolas Petracca to the label with ‘Between The Clouds’.
It’s been a steady rise for the Argentinean producer this last year. Key releases on Dopamine Music and E Sound Records have been sensational and his debut for Clinique looks to keep that momentum going.
Nicolas’ melodic progressive sound has been compared to the pixie vibes of James Holden and Luke Chable circa 2004. On ‘Between The Clouds’ we get a bit of that with a much deeper twist. There’s a lot to like here, it’s warm groove is full of character and emotion, and there’s a rough, textural edge which makes it all the more alluring. As with most Nicolas Petracca productions the melodic motifs are quite blissful and this one continues to lift you up to the heavens throughout. Great stuff from Nicolas.
The first interpretation of ‘Between The Clouds’ is provided by Arkadia who is making his first appearance on Clinique Recordings. The Australian producer’s first ever production was released by Pete Tong’s Bedroom Bedlam label which proved to be a great jumpstart to his career. Recent appearances on Baroque Records and LuPS Records have further molded the Australian’s progressive techno sound and he’s delivered an excellent remix of ‘Between The Clouds’ here. It’s revamped groove and dubby nature makes it the best dance floor version on the release. The lead rhythmic elements are incredibly strong not mention impeccably produced and the breakdown builds wonderful tension all while never losing sight of the groove. Excellent remix from Arkadia.
The second and final interpretation of ‘Between The Clouds’ is provided by Rasti Tkac who is making his first appearance on Clinique Recordings. Long time progressive house fans know the Slovakian producer from his much loved productions with Thomas Haverlik which date back 10 years now. The duo crafted many progressive gems including Tyra, Synthia and Noel. Rasti made a much welcome return late last year with a remix of Alfoa’s ‘Karma’ released courtesy of Welcome Music and it’s great to see him on another project here. His interpretation of ‘Between The Clouds’ revisits that trippy spaced out sound which so many loved about his classic productions. Phenomenal vocal edits along with a big, groovy foundation and intricate electronic work make it both a pleasure to listen or dance to. The subtle piano accents add an air of intrigue and the cinematic break sets up a powerful conclusion. Wonderful remix from Rasti which rounds out an excellent release on Clinique Recordings.
