Oscar Holgado returns to System Recordings this week for a brand new single entitled ‘Thru Streets’.
The Spanish born Netherlands based producer is making his 12th appearance on the storied US imprint. The launch of Oscar’s Symmetric Records imprint in June of 2014 was a huge success and amazing music continued to flow from his studio with releases on Baroque Records and Crossfade Sounds leading the way. Oscar’s latest single for System Recordings looks to be his best yet and includes a remix from Sasse. Oscar has always been part of that core group of underground progressive producers but his music has been a little out of place there I think. He’s done a lot of unique stuff which borders on deep and tech house; his latest ‘Thru Streets’ might be his deepest and grooviest studio creation to date. Backed by a wonderfully shaped groove the dance floor appeal of the piece is evident early on. As the track builds layers of wickedly processed vocals and dubby rhythms up the energy which ultimately peaks with a section of marvellous drum fills. It’s smooth, engaging and wonderfully produced piece of electronic music from Oscar and my favourite of his to date.
The lone remix of ‘Thru Streets’ is provided by Sasse who is making his first appearance on System Recordings. The Berlin based producer has been synonymous with quality electronic music for the better part of the last 20 years. His discography is filled with gems that include releases on Bedrock, Dirtcrew and Pokerflat. As a DJ he’s travelled the world and his inimitable blend of deep grooves and energetic vibes continue to be some of the most unique and captivating around. For his ‘Thru Streets’ interpretation Sasse has reworked the track into a late night, hypnotic affair that absolutely rocks. Based around an entirely different lead theme the German producer has provided a superb complement to the original that not only carries a wonderful momentum throughout but a sleek and refined vibe that will stand the test of time. Lovely release from System Recordings and one of my favourite on the label to date in fact. Don’t miss it.
