The 220th release on Balkan Connection is out this week and it features the debut of Pedro Aguiar to the label. Pedro hails from Portugal and began his production career a short 20 months ago with several releases on Baroque. 2012 saw Pedro with additional releases on Plastic City and Tech Soul which earned support from: Guy J, Sasha, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Danny Howells. The Portuguese producer has gotten 2013 off to an amazing start with his ‘Voices In My Head’ composition appearing on Nick Warren’s Renaissance Masters compilation. Pedro’s debut single for Balkan Connection is entitled ‘Watching You Leave’ and it comes with an outstanding selection remixes from: Luis Bondio, Matias Chilano and Uvo.
For those of you that are fans of Pedro’s deep, atmospheric sound you’re going to love ‘Watching You Leave’. The track comes with a swirling, hypnotic rhythm that sounds really fresh. Soft vocal accents add to the wavering groove while a warm harmonic sequence leads the track into the main break. The drop introduces a poignant melancholic line that sits prominently over the faint atmospheric backdrop. It’s gorgeous moment which leads into the second half where the mammoth 11 minute track climaxes with waves of drums and mesmerizing synths.
The first remix comes from a producer who has been on fine form of late. Luis Bondio has grown into one of Argentina’s most recognizable progressive house producers. With appearances on Renaissance, Hope, DAR and Mesmeric combined with the continued support from international DJs like Nick Warren and Hernan Cattaneo 2012 saw Luis become one of the genre’s most loved artists. Luis’ remix of ‘Watching You Leave’ more than showcases his studio mastery. In staying true to the main theme of the original Luis has crafted a foundation that is much chunkier and more groove oriented which should work incredibly well on the dance floor.
The second remix of ‘Watching You Leave’ comes from Matias Chilano who has been one of the hottest producers in progressive house of late. The Argentinean has built up an incredible discography with releases on Sound Avenue, Crossfade Sounds, Mistique, LuPS and Soundteller. Last week was huge for Matias as his remixes for Agara and Stereo Paradise were released to rave reviews. Matias once again works his studio magic on ‘Watching You Leave’ as he’s crafted another swirling, atmospheric masterpiece. It’s amazing how much Matias has progressed as a producer over the last 12 months and this just shows he’s still improving. Great stuff!
The final remix on the package comes from Uvo who is making his fourth appearance on Balkan Connection. Kevin Rodriguez aka Uvo is based in the USA and has been shot into the progressive house spotlight of late with Hernan Cattaneo playing and charting several of his productions. His ‘Watching You Leave’ remix was one of those aforementioned productions having been selected by Hernan for his April chart. The selection is certainly justified as the dreamy, atmospheric and percussive nature of the track certainly sounds tailor made for Hernan. What really stands out for us though is how gorgeous the break is with its celestial melodies and futuristic sounds. It’s unbelievably captivating and should create many magical dance floor moments in the coming months. A top notch package from Balkan Connection with three remixes that all delver something exceptional. Highly recommended. Release Promo Hype Chart Top 25
