The 77th release on Clinique Recordings sees the Russian imprint introducing a new artist to their roster. Russian producer Platunoff began his production career just over a year ago with a string of releases on Emotional Noise. 2014 has seen Platunoff branch out with appearances on OLD SQL Recordings, Suffused Music and Green Snake Recordings. His debut single for Clinique is entitled ‘Unforget’ and it comes with a remix from Hugo Ibarra & Uvo.

Platunoff’s original begins with a lazy sounding proggy groove that accented with wonky tones and some gorgeous strums. A wispy vocal gate introduces the first breakdown where the melodic theme starts to become a bit more prevalent with a lovely sequence of keys and interwoven instrumentation. As the track begins building towards a second half conclusion the melodious cascades intensifies along with the wonky tones which somehow seem to work rather well together. A cool track from Platunoff which makes for a great debut on the label.

The lone remix is provided by Hugo Ibarra and Uvo who are making their debut on Clinique Recordings. The Mexican production team have been one of the most talked about duos of the year and the impending launch of their Intemporal imprint is anticipated by many. For their ‘Unforget’ interpretation Hugo and Uvo have transformed the track into a pixie-like, prog-techno groover. The duos cool beat patterns, well textured hypno-layers and techno enthused drums are quite inspired here. The laid back nature of the piece makes it a sure fire late night gem but I could also see this working well during peak hours on the right dance floor. Brilliant remix from Hugo Ibarra & Uvo who can’t seem to put a foot wrong at the moment. One of the best pieces of music to comes out on Clinique Recordings yet this year. Don’t miss it.
