Pol Sembrano “Anywhere”: craft over hype

Understated but undeniable, “Anywhere” lands with disciplined arrangement and purposeful songwriting. Pol Sembrano leverages classic training (piano) and hands-on programming to keep the signal-to-noise high: a rubber-band bassline, precise drum writing, hardware-leaning textures and a top-line that sticks without dumbing down. Casey Lewis (Echo Base Studios) keeps the master open—no brickwall here—so transients breathe and the chorus lifts naturally.

The lyrical frame (wanderlust, resilience, post-trauma clarity after the 2004 tsunami) avoids melodrama. It reads like lived-in optimism. Press nods from We Rave You, Big Takeover Magazine and Grungecake situate Sembrano near Depeche Mode, New Order, Pet Shop Boys—but this is influence, not imitation.
