With her debut release Lost In Rhythm on Easter Egg Plant, Rani Kryeziu steps confidently into the spotlight. Blending melodic depth, trance-laced textures and a strong sense of groove, the Belgian DJ and producer channels personal reflection into club-ready narratives. In this exclusive for Change Underground, Rani opens up about her creative process, cultural background, and her vision for the future.
Your debut Lost In Rhythm feels like a milestone. What emotions or personal moments shaped this track?
My passion for music — and especially for DJing — was the main driving force. I’ve always been in love with nightlife: the energy, the connection, how music brings people together. When you’re DJing, you’re not just playing tracks; you’re reading the crowd, responding to their energy — and in that process, you learn a lot about yourself. With this debut, I wanted to reflect that journey. The result is a track that balances emotion and energy — a true expression of who I am as an artist.
The EP is described as “more than just a club anthem — a mood, a memory, a moment suspended in time.” What were you trying to capture with this concept?
I wanted to create a track that resonates beyond the club. Something you can play anywhere — wild at a festival, driving late at night, or alone after a night out. I wanted it to evoke emotion and memory, give space to breathe — and then suddenly pull you back into movement. It’s that tension between introspection and dancefloor energy that really defines it.
Your sound blends trance, deep, and melodic elements with elegance. How would you define your sonic identity?
I’d describe it as deep, groovy, dynamic, and melodic. I don’t like boxing myself into specific genres, but these are the qualities that define my music. It’s emotionally driven, designed to move people, and built around melodies that feel familiar even when they’re new.
The “From Ibiza to New York Mix” brings a brighter, more energetic reinterpretation. How did that version come about?
When I think of nightlife, two places immediately come to mind: Ibiza and New York. Ibiza feels like a second home — I’ve been going for over ten years. And New York? Just imagine the lights, the crowds, the pulse of the city. I wanted to channel both energies into a remix that’s more uplifting, vivid, and driving.
You’ve been DJing for two years. What made you want to step into music production?
As a DJ, you’re constantly playing tracks by others. But I’m someone who digs deep for hidden gems — tracks that surprise the audience. That search for something unique is what pushed me to start producing. I wanted to craft something original, something that says: That’s Rani Kryeziu, without even needing to see the booth.
You’re based in Belgium with Albanian roots. Does your cultural background influence your music in any way?
Not directly — but I do notice I’m drawn to southern vibes in music. Especially Balkan vocals. I’d love to incorporate that influence more consciously in future productions.
You released this EP on Easter Egg Plant, under the guidance of Willem Voet. How was that experience?
It was a very smooth collaboration. I was honestly excited when Willem reached out with the offer. The communication was easy, and the whole release process felt very natural.
Now that Lost In Rhythm is out — what’s next? More music, gigs, collaborations?
Definitely! My goal is to keep releasing music consistently. This summer is already packed with DJ gigs, and I’m grabbing every opportunity to grow, learn, and enjoy the ride.
