Ri9or – Thinking Out Loud EP (Stereo Paradise)

Tvardovsky’s Stereo Paradise imprint returns this week following a great EP from Napalm & d-phrag 5 weeks ago. The labels newest release sees the talented Ri9or making his debut on the label. The Russian producer has really been catching our attention lately with his album on Stellar Fountain and additional releases on LuPS and Pangea. Ri9or’s debut EP for ‘Stereo Paradise’ is entitled ‘Thinking Out Loud’ and it comes with 3 brand new originals.

The EP begins with ‘Thinking Out Loud’ which is a really unique melodic techno piece. What really stands initially are the stabs which complement the stripped framework. A fresh and inspiring sound which slowly evolves into a blissful melodic section accompanied by lovely chord changes and emotional harmonies. The second act of the composition introduces further melodic themes with a glowing set of well crafted keys taking center stage. A marvelous production from Ri9or.

The second production ‘City Cruise’ comes with a wickedly moody vibe that’s generated with some wobbly acid stabs and dark undertones. Some orchestral highlights and a spooky vocal gate bring the track through an intensity filled section of electronics which draws comparisons to Sasha’s ‘Mongoose’. An exceptional production from Ri9or and our favourite on the package as well.

The EP concludes with ‘Good Morning Mr. Parker’ which might be the toughest track on the EP. A hard kick and powerful subterranean groove along with soulful vocal samples and clever electronics propel the track into a great groove early on. Subtle chord changes in the bass line and some quirky synths cast an eerie emotional vibe over the track as it reaches the drop. Here some scenic atmospheres and cinematic harmonics provide some amazing goose bump moments before the rocking groove returns for an energetic finish. A superb EP from Ri9or who has obviously been working very hard in the studio of late. Highly Recommended. Release Promo Hype Chart Top 25
