Mistique Music welcomes Rick Pier O’Neil back to the label with his latest single entitled ‘Feel’.
The French producer is fresh off his ‘Ouija’ collaboration with the Mistique bosses Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic, which released last month to great reviews. Now for Mistique’s 528th release we see Rick presenting another fine track from his arsenal entitled ‘Feel’ alongside Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic and Thorin remixes.
Rick has come on quite strong this year and the his legions of fans are following along for the ride. His recent two track ‘Composite’ EP courtesy of Majestic Family was another sonic masterpiece and ‘Feel’ is no different. It’s another impeccably produced track from Rick which carries that progressive techno fusion that’s so in demand right now. From its warm, pulsating foundation to crisp, dynamic drums there is a lot to like here and it’s energy is just amazing. Along with those powerful beats is a slowly evolving band of textures which are just incredible. Dark, mysterious vocals dominate an electric sounding break while the third act just pushes the energy higher for a goosebump inducing finale. Another spot on production from Rick.
The first interpretation of ‘Feel’ is provided by the Mistique Music bosses Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic who are making their 63rd appearance on the label. The much love trio have had a great 2015 thus far with new singles for their own Kunai imprint along with Mirabilis Records and also two remixes for Mistique. The Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic sound continues to evolve and here they’ve crafted an energetic interpretation of ‘Feel’. It’s driving groove is full of rolling stabs and killer hooks but what really sets this and most MLSR tracks apart is the fluid narrative which develops. Wispy atmospherics paint a wonderful sonic picture and the rhythmic hooks following the main break are absolutely deadly. Brilliant remix from Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic.
The second and final interpretation of ‘Feel’ is provided by Thorin who is making his fifth appearance on Mistique Music. The Netherlands based producer has been a fixture of the Bonzai Records roster for many years and also has Suffused Music and OLD SQL Recordings on his discography. For his ‘Feel’ interpretation Thorin has crafted a groovy rework which reinvents some of the rhythmic elements from the original to great effect. It’s rougher texture is a great complement to the previous two mixes and the spacey designs, particularly in the third act are really strong. Great remix from Thorin which rounds out another well put together release for Mistique Music. Don’t miss it.
