Rick Pier O'Neil - Haiku Remixes

The latest release on Clinique Recordings welcomes Rick Pier O’Neil back to the label with brand new remixes of ‘Haiku’.

Rick Pier O'Neil - Haiku Remixes

Originally released on the Russian imprint in May of this year, it came at a moment when Rick’s career had been lifted from years of less activity. It’s techno minded groove and futuristic design made it a joy to listen to and it also did serious damage on the floor, particularly after a warped and thoroughly dramatic breakdown. Now for Clinique’s 141st release we see Desaturate and Following Light updating it for the fall/winter season.

The first interpretation of ‘Haiku’ is provided by Desaturate who is making his first appearance on Clinique Recordings. One half of the famed Progress Inn duo has garnered much hype since adopting his new moniker earlier this year. A string of hits for 238W and Sound Avenue in recent months have been heard throughout the underground and he’s delivered another great production here. Desaturate has coined this remix ‘Rising Sun’ it carries the great energy of the original and then some. Anchored by a driving groove and long trailing effects it sets a wicked flow, while waves of choppy drums cut through the atmosphere with an electric flair. The main break brings a touch more emotion as the framework opens up and the hopeful pads breathe a moment of serenity, before the groove assault continues for a massive finale. Monstrous remix from Desaturate who has done the original very proud here.

The second and final interpretation of ‘Haiku’ is provided by Following Light who is making his fourth appearance on Clinique Recordings. The Ukrainian producer and Inmost Records label boss is fresh off the release of his ‘Essay’ single for Aethereal and also delivered a great remix for the new D&R imprint. Following Light generally brings a softer, smoother sound so he’s an interesting remix choice for someone like Rick Pier O’Neil and it’s turned out really cool. The ominous, tech crunch of the original certainly comes through here but the atmospheric elements definitely play a bigger role, and the layers of hopeful pads carry a lot of emotion amidst the rougher design. Some lovely contrasting moods from Following Light which round out this release on a great note. Top notch remix EP again from Clinique Recordings. Don’t miss it.
