Flow Vinyl is well known for attracting the best young producers, and their latest release is the perfect example. Rob Hes from the Netherlands has delivered two tracks, ‘Falling Star’ and ‘Radio Drift’, and they further cement his reputation as a rising star of the international house and techno scene. He is already released music on Bedrock, Sudbeat, Rawthentic and a great Ideal Audio release, among others which speaks for itself, and this release on Flow is up there with his best work so far.Rob Hes productions are all about energy and have an intense, raw quality.

‘Falling Stars’ is exactly that with its driving beats, distorted synths and extended build-up. The combination of superb studio skills and the influences of early techno have been utilized to dramatic effect, and this is electronic music designed to set the dancefloor alight.

‘Radio Drift’ sees the pace drop a little and the rhythm enhanced with a touch of breakbeat, but the result is just as powerful as the pressure builds. The introduction of Detroit-style synths midway through the track also add another dimension, and confirm Rob Hes as a producer who is able to take risks.

‘Radio Drift’ has been given the remix treatment by UK producer Dubspeeka who adds a special Bristol flavour. Trippy and hypnotic, but underpinned by a thunderous bassline, it provides a gloriously dark contrast to the original. With this release, Flow Vinyl has showed yet again that they are a label committed to thinking outside of the box.
