The 83rd release on 3rd Avenue finds the label showcasing new interpretations of Santiago Teillagorry’s ‘A Gray Day’.
Originally released on the Belgian imprint’s ‘We Are The Future’ (Fall 2013)’ collection, It’s smooth lines and gentle build are perfect mood setting material and it was not only the perfect track to start the Sampler off but also one of its most memorable. 3rd Avenue now updates the track for the Fall 2015 season with new interpretations from Lucas Rossi and Antrim.
The first interpretation of ‘A Gray Day’ is provided by Lucas Rossi who is making his second appearance on 3rd Avenue. The Argentinean producer first appeared on the Belgian imprint in August of this year with a contribution to the label’s ‘Summer Sampler’. Lucas has since gone on to be featured on the Golden Wings Music ‘Unique Series II’ and also Seven Spirits Records. For his ‘A Gray Day’ interpretation Lucas has modernized the track with a smooth melodic cadence which is quite inviting. Layers of hypnotic rhythms build powerful momentum as the blissful elegance grows towards the main break. Here angelic pads descend over the framework along with a heartfelt motif for the ultimate goosebump moment. What follows is a smooth build and pretty big payoff as well where the vocally pads continue to lift you to the heavens. Wonderful interpretation of Lucas.
The second and final interpretation of ‘A Gray Day’ is provided by Antrim who is returning to 3rd Avenue for his seventh appearance. The Argentinean producer enjoyed the most productive year of his career with several outstanding originals and remixes for Balkan Connection, Classound Recordings and System Recordings being some of the most notable. For his ‘A Gray Day’ interpretation Antrim has provided a much dubbier version which complements the previous two versions really well. Based around a somewhat stripped back framework Antrim works in a variety of vocal and melodic motifs which drift in and out of the groove with an effortless flair. Following a well constructed break a moodier re-entry allows a nice build back to the lead tones which carry the track along with some smooth sonics to a serene conclusion. Lovely remix from Antrim and a great remix pack from 3rd Avenue. Don’t miss it.
