Silinder 21:21 BC Edition (Balkan Connection)

The latest release on Balkan Connection finds the label showcasing its latest BC Edition.

For those unfamiliar with the series it selects a standout release from Proton Music’s catalog and has a few of Balkan Connection’s finest label artists reinterpret the track. For the latest installment we see Silinder’s ’21:21′ getting showcased with new remixes from Ewan Rill and Shane Robinson.

’21:21′ was not only one of Proton’s standouts tracks last year it was also one of their best selling as well. Originally released as part of Silinder’s ‘Basement’ EP in October of 2014 the track now sits atop Proton’s Beatport Top 10. It featured more of the Irish producer’s irresistibly smooth grooves and hypnotic motifs. It’s certainly a daunting one to remix but Ewan and Shane have done a great job.

Ewan Rill is one of Balkan Connection’s most long standing and steadfast artists. The Russian producer is making his 63rd appearance on the label and continues to deliver excellent work. For his ’21:21′ interpretation Ewan has added his own melodic twist on the track which complements the original really well. Subtle motifs add mightily to Silinder’s glacial lines and some prominent stabs add a wonderfully epic vibe. The vocal gates also sound fabulous and Ewan’s reshaped groove is perfect for the dance floor. Top notch stuff again from Ewan.

The second and final interpretation of ’21:21′ is provided by Shane Robinson who is returning to Balkan Connection for his third appearance. The Irish producer has been a part of some amazing projects over the last year. Most notably ‘Dublin’ which was written in conjunction with Biologik and released on Soulfinder and Vincent Furlong’s Sleepless Nights Recordings. Always a consummate remixer Shane has managed to reshape the elements from Silinder’s original into something that’s equally engaging and also stands on its own quite well. The Irish producer’s smooth yet funky foundation is immediately inviting and quite a departure from the original in way. The vocals have been twisted into something quite esoteric sounding and they prove to be excellent rhythmic components, while a well crafted middle section builds wonderful anticipation in the most restrained and classy way imaginable. Superb remix from Shane and another top notch BC Edition from Balkan Connection.
