Sterbai

The sixth release on Troika Records finds Sterbai presenting his new single entitled ‘Choices’.

Sterbai

We last heard from the Scottish producer in July when he unleashed ‘Crazy Things’ alongside a remix from Canadian artist Tim Penner. The Above & Beyond supported ‘Minerals’ remains a 2015 highlight but ‘Choices’ promises to be every bit as good and includes an awesome remix from Sergio Fernandez.

The release gets underway with the original mix which finds Sterbai crafting another tightly constructed groove. There’s a catchy shuffle carrying those tough beats and a looping, vocal storyboard makes them all the more captivating. These strong hypnotic themes set the stage nicely for a bleepy lead motif which really opens the production up. It carries nicely through a stripped down second act and following a subtle build gets washed away in favour of the full groove and vocal complement. It’s a wicked transition and one which should garner a massive reaction on the dance floor. Beautiful work from Sterbai.

The lone interpretation of ‘Choices’ is provided by Sergio Fernandez who is making his first appearance on Troika Records. The Spanish producer much loved for his cutting edge dance floor creations on Stereo Records and Toolroom is fresh off a contribution to Baroque’s critically acclaimed STEMS collection. Sergio’s timeless, drummy sound seems tailor made for something like ‘Choices’ and the results are quite spectacular. The Spanish producer has stayed true to the strong themes from the original while adding his own percussive flair. Some timely vocal edits and effects on the lead motif give it a slightly trippier vibe but the clever builds and drops make it a real dance floor bomb. Excellent remix from Sergio and another top release on Troika Records.
