The artist behind “Can I Music?” is The Liquid Dude. The mysterious new alias from an experienced electronic producer.
He spent years working under different names – collaborating with artists such as Emanuel Satie, Leif and Lehar, performing at legendary venues such as Detroit’s TV Lounge, and even composing award-winning film scores under yet another alias.
The Liquid Dude and his “Can I Music?” album was released on 5 September 2025 via the freshly launched imprint Liquid Freaks. The eight-track record ushers him out of a 12-year DJ hiatus and into a new phase – one that merges his past underground sensibilities with a sharpened, experimental vision.
What emerges is a deliberate undoing of dance-floor conventions. The music aims not to celebrate nostalgia but to dismantle it. According to the artist, this isn’t homage — it’s confrontation. The album presents itself as a “cracked mirror held up to a culture that once moved bodies and minds.”
From the opening textures to the closing spoken-word moods, the tracks move like fractured memories rather than straightforward songs. “Nipponacidfunk” disassembles house tropes with skewed 303s and Japanese-language vocal fragments, “Shakyshaky” plunges into acid-fueled delirium, while “Botox Love” and “Digital Dopamine” ride unhinged rhythms and glitchy synth flares that feel more like warehouse hallucinations than club tracks.

Moments like “Indigestion” offer melancholic bass and submerged chords; “The Old Days” closes with hazy synth warmth and elastic rhythms, as if the album is exhaling years of silence and reawakening both memory and tension.
This is not dance-floor fodder. This is dissonance, deconstruction, recontextualisation. It challenges the listener to confront what club culture meant, and what it has become. For a record that rejects polish and embraces raw, half-erased recollection, “Can I Music?” stands as a statement: underground electronic music can still hurt, provoke, unsettle.
