The 88th release on Movement Recordings sees Tim Penner‘s excellent ‘Reborn’ getting its full release with brand new remixes. ‘Reborn‘ was one of the standout selections from Movement’s ‘Technical Progress’ Volume 3 compilation which was released in November of last year. The track’s sultry vocal samples, futuristic sound models and a flair for constant progression made it one of Tim’s coolest works to date and now we’ve got brand new remixes from JOSEL, Erdi Irmak and Hugo Ibarra & Uvo.
The first remix is supplied by JOSEL who is returning to Movement for his second appearance. The Greek-born London-based producer released his ‘Ekfrasis’ EP on the label in late 2012 and has since appeared on Suffused Music and Soundteller Records. JOSEL has reworked Tim’s original into a laid back drummy construction that’s full of wonderful rhythms and quirky hooks. The delicate atmospheric backdrop and spoken word vocal samples play off each other perfectly for the ultimate late night vibe. Great work form JOSEL.
The second remix on the release comes from Erdi Irmak who has been a huge contributor for Movement Recordings over the last year. This is the Turkish producers fifth appearance on the Greek label and it’s a welcome one as he’s been a bit quiet to start 2014. Erdi continues his strong production ways here with a deep and funky interpretation that absolutely rocks. The smooth rhythms build to an amazing break which culminates with the vocal elements and granular haze eventually revealing Erdi’s smooth groove once more.
The third and final remix comes from Hugo Ibarra and Uvo who are making their fourth appearance on Movement Recordings. The Mexican duo have been incredibly prolific this year and with a forthcoming track on Darin Epsilon’s Perspectives Digital the future continues to look bright. Their interpretation of ‘Reborn’ closes the release out with a swirling hypnotic sound that is absolutely intoxicating. The trailing effects, hazy vocal gates and bouncy drums all combine for what is Hugo and Uvo’s best creation to date. It’s puts a perfect cap on one of Movement’s most impressive releases of the year. Don’t miss it!
