The lead track on the compilation ‘Parana’ by Mindshield really stands out. The Argentinean producer has delivered several great productions for Balkan Connection in the past and ‘Parana’ may be his best yet. The tough beats combined with an enchanting atmosphere lay down a very cool vibe and the way the track weaves it’s way so effortlessly through subtle themes and ideas is really refreshing. Great stuff from Mindshield. Mexican producer Peter Van Der returns to Balkan Connection for his third overall appearance and provides a deep and dark progressive cut with a very cool atmosphere. It’s an almost cinematic sounding piece but still with an amazing dance floor presence. Next up is Following Light with “Clarivoyant’ which is certainly one of the Russian producers best yet. The intricate electronics are really fresh and come with some excellent production polish all while the strong tech house groove works it’s dance floor magic. Another standout is Tolga Diler’s very groovy ‘This Is Not A Test’. The percussive framework is really strong and the way themelodic and atmospheric elements build up throughout the record are quite cool. Certainly one of Tolga’s most elaborate works to date. Hibrid’s ‘Escape’ follows and comes with another incredibly groovy framework. The chunky groove comes with a great percussive complement and a light and airy atmosphere which is quite classy sounding. The package is closed out with D.X.Xavier’s ‘After Dark’ which is a dark and brooding piece with some striking electronics and really crisp production. It puts a perfect close to another outstanding collection from Balkan Connection.
