Up and coming progressive producer Verche began a partnership with US label System Recordings in late 2010. Both the Croatian producer and label have been flourishing ever since. Verche has now appeared on System Recordings sixteen times and has been remixed by some of the industry’s most sought after producers. Cid Inc., Jamie Stevens, Luis Junior, Ian O’Donovan, Andre Sobota, Lank and Deepfunk all come to mind. System has now firmly established itself as one of the top labels in the new landscape of progressive house and this week they present Verche’s ‘Simple Ego’ album. Some of Verche’s biggest singles of recent months are included here from the atmospheric epic ‘Ego’ to the wonderfully bubbly textures of ‘Raw Substance’. The collection also contains some of the aforementioned remixes from Jamie Stevens, Luis Junior, Ian O’Donovan and Andre Sobota but it’s the additional album reworks from Verche that really shine here.
The deep well shaped bass tones that make up the underbelly of ‘Octopus Love’ are simply divine and if there was ever an ideal track to set the mood of a room this is it. It’s one of the standouts on the album for us and also would have to be considered one of Verche’s deepest records to date. This brings us to ‘Limb’ which comes with another one of Verche’s incredibly unique melodic techno themes. It’s the sparkling electronics and almost celestial sounding atmospheres that create such a brilliant vibe here. A track that’s not only a real pleasure to just sit and listen to but also one that should fare well on the more educated progressive dance floors out there. As at album winds to a close we have ‘Musica De La Noche’ which presents a slightly more deliberate techno groove but still with such a great complement of textures and buzzing hypnotics. The washed out melodic leads and grainy sweeps are pure aural candy and while it’s easy to get lost in such an amazing wall of sound the tough groove makes it more than suitable for the floor.
We’ve long felt that Verche is one of the most unique and under-rated producers working in today’s new progressive landscape. There isn’t another producer that comes to mind who creates these wonderful shoegaze type melodies and gorgeous atmospheres. His ‘Simple Ego’ album is a brilliant snapshot into what he’s capable of and we strongly recommend you check it out. Release Promo Hype Chart Top 5
