Warmth in Motion — MYLAMINE traces the deeper groove on “Kindred Soul” (Electronic Brew Records)

With “Kindred Soul”, out now on Electronic Brew Records, MYLAMINE leans into the lineage of soulful house without lapsing into retro cosplay. The producer who caught ears with “Setting Sun” and “Find My Way” now refines his palette: jazz-tinged chords, a rounded, supple bassline and a drum pocket with just enough swing to keep the shoulders loose.

What stands out is the intention behind the pacing. The arrangement isn’t in a rush; it opens space for harmonies to glow and for small details to register—the brush of hi-hats, a dusty chord extension, percussion that nudges rather than shouts. There’s club functionality in the low end, but the mix favors warmth over glare, making the track translate as well on a sun-down terrace as it does in a close-up booth. You can ride it in a warm-up, drop it mid-set for a reset of mood, or keep it as a late-night companion on headphones; the character holds in each context.

Crucially, MYLAMINE resists the sugar rush. Instead of big-room payoffs, he builds trust through feel—call it human scale. The groove never drifts, yet the harmonic color keeps evolving in subtle shades, giving DJs something to blend and listeners something to return to. It’s the kind of record that’s easy to love and hard to exhaust.

Momentum from the previous singles is real, but “Kindred Soul” suggests a step up in authorship: a clearer sense of what belongs to MYLAMINE—organic textures, unforced emotion, and a rhythm section that breathes.
