With Jaap Ligthart’s ‘The Haunt’ EP out this week on Manual Music, we take a look at his favourite tracks of the moment in the latest edition of Whatโs In Your Box?
1. Applescal – Harmony Two [Atomnation]
โPlaying this the last couple of gigs and it always gives good vibes on the dancefloor. Hands in the air…โ
2. Chvrches – ZVVL (Jaap Ligthart Edit)
โAn edit i did a little while ago. The original is not widely known by people but somehow it always works great when the vocal comes in.โ
3. Fotn – Celeste (Jaap Ligthart Remix) [Global Underground]
โA remix i did for Global Underground. I donโt know exactly when this will be available but it is a dancefloor destroyer, if i may say so myself. The original is really good so it was an honor to remix this.โ
4. Polynation – Why You (Love over Entropy Remix) [Atomnation]
โNice atmosphere in this and the vocals are just amazing. Plus it goes really well in front of the Applescal track (track 1 on this list)โ
5. Fat Sushi – Citadel [Hive Audio]
โWhen i heard Miss Melera play this i was instantly in love with this track, playing it on and off in my sets for a while now and it always gets a great responseโ
6. Ben Remember – Pure Haze [Solid E]
โThis track combines a couple of elements beautifully. The emotional vocals in the (big) break and the chunky beats makes this one perfect for a bit later on in my setsโ
7. Jaap Ligthart – The Haunt (Donatello Remix) [Manual Music]
โReally happy with this remix of Donatello. The Donatello drums and the use of the original parts work really well together. Really glad that Paul Hazendonk got him to remix itโ
8. Jaap Ligthart – Miau (Rain Remix) [Manual Music]
โI first met Rain in Mauritius a couple of years ago at a gig and he is a really nice guy and doing a lot for the underground scene over there. Apart from that, heโs a really good producer and i love what he did with thisโ
9. Acid Pauli – Nana [Pampa Records]
โTrack of the summer.โ
10. Jamie XX – Gosh (Jaap Ligthart Edit)
โHammered by Sasha (among others) some time ago and i get asked to play this at almost every gig. It doesnโt always fit, but when it does, it does the trick every timeโ
