What’s In Your Box: Praveen Achary

With Praveen Achary’s remix of Tommi Oskari ‘Sri Lanka’ getting released on Juicebox Music this week we take a look at what’s been rocking his dance floors in the latest edition of What’s In Your Box?

Praveen Achary

1. MUUI “Elsa” (Original Mix) [Crossfrontier Audio]

“Effortlessly beautiful. An ever-evolving melody line with a simple but super effective groove.”

2. Andre Sobota “Solaris” (James Teej Saturn City Remix) [microCastle]

“Sometimes 11 minutes isn’t enough. The way the track is structured is amazing, so many different phrases of vibes but all blended so beautifully. Perfect for the summer too.”

3. Wrong Jeremy ft. Flowers and Sea Creatures + Augustine Wrong – Dimly Lit (Deepfunk Remix) [Strange Town Recordings]

“The track’s length (9 mins) completely lines up with the super long title name, haha. In all seriousness though, Malcolm (Deepfunk)’s version borderlines’ between techno, electronica and progressive. Organic tones, fluttering warm synths and glitchy vocals à la ‘Telefon Tel Aviv – The Birds’ makes this even more nostalgic. Beautifully dark.”

4. Hunter/Game “Tree Of Life” (Chymera Remix) [JustThis]

“Reminds me of the early progressive house times where repeated chords & simple basslines dominated the tracks while the atmospheric melodies carry the track forward. Always work on the dancefloor for me.”

5. Luis Junior “You Inspire Me” (Kosmas Remix) [mooseekaa]

“The original has these detuned/warped chords that made it beautiful, a very “Luis Junior” sound. Then enters Kosmas Epsilon with a great interpretation utilizing those parts with a fun & progressive groove, loads of perfect counter-melodies too.”

6. Diyo “Underwater” (Blusoul Seaside Mix) [Juicebox Music]

“Absolutely loving Harris (aka Blusoul)’s productions in the past couple of years. He’s got a distinct new vibe this year, non-traditional arrangement and super effective on floors. The remix for “Underwater” is all sorts of awesomeness. Happy vibes with darker synth-lines for the summer nights.”

7. Tommi Oskari “Sri Lanka” (Praveen Achary Remix) [Juicebox Music]

“Finished this remix right after I got back from playing at the I Love Una festival in Sri Lanka with Guy J. The entire experience was overwhelming and I had to capture it. Probably one of my personal favourite remixes, till date.”

8. Interaxxis “Natural Fear” (Sahar Z & Khen Remix) [Plattenbank]

“Israeli-Prog has become a thing now. This is, in my opinion, a defining track for the crew. Such a dancefloor destroyer, but a pleasure to just listen to as well. Lush pads engulfing the first few minutes, slowly hinting that a bomb-groove is on it’s way, and not to my surprise … it delivers.”

9. Kasall, Cristian R “Thought” (Original Mix) [Flow Records]

“A powerful dancefloor track. Such a cool groove but menacing at the same time.”

10. Pedro Aguiar “Snobiety” (Original Mix) [Darkroom Dubs]

“That arp + groove. A serious mind-trip.”
