Spanish producers D‑Formation and Alex Medina have joined forces to launch a new collaborative project, YES TO ALL, debuting with their first single “Preludio”.
The release also marks the inaugural record on their self-run imprint, YES TO ALL Records, a move that signals long-term ambition and a focus on building a catalogue of DJ-oriented, club-ready music.
D‑Formation, the alias of Dimas Carbajo, is a veteran Spanish DJ and producer who has been a fixture of Spain’s electronic music scene for more than 25 years. Founder of Beatfreak Recordings, one of the country’s earliest underground labels, D‑Formation has cultivated a reputation for melodic, atmospheric house and progressive tracks. Over his career, he has shared stages with international heavyweights including John Digweed, Marco Carola, Carl Cox, and Hernán Cattáneo, and released notable albums such as Madrid on Yoshitoshi. His work has consistently emphasised DJ-friendly structure and underground integrity, making him a respected figure in European electronic music.
Alex Medina, from the Canary Islands, brings a complementary vision. A DJ, producer, live performer, promoter, and label head of Mumbai Records, Medina has carved a space for eclectic, genre-crossing music, blending deep house, techno, electronica, and experimental textures. He has released on esteemed labels such as Innervisions, Diynamic, Bedrock, and Mobilee, and his DJ sets are known for their groovy, psychedelic, and complex structures. Beyond production, Medina has nurtured electronic music culture in the Canary Islands through record shops, events, and A&R work, earning support from artists like Dixon, Âme, Laurent Garnier, Solomun, and Richie Hawtin. Both artists were recently nominated at the Vicious Music Awards, highlighting the significance of their collaboration and the timing of the label launch.
Preludio itself is crafted as a functional club tool. At 121 BPM, the track prioritises controlled energy over emotional overstatement. Percussion is dry and precise, the low end predictable, and the tension rises through subtle modulation in the synths rather than sweeping melodic statements. Designed for large systems and long-format DJ sets, it works as a versatile transition piece that maintains the floor’s momentum while allowing seamless mixing. It is music made for the club first, with a clarity and structure that reflects the experience of both D‑Formation and Medina as international selectors.
The release is complemented by a remix from Denis Horvat, a Copenhagen-based producer of Croatian descent known for his emotive, synth-driven techno. Horvat has released on labels such as Innervisions, Afterlife, Diynamic, and his own Vokabularium imprint. Beginning his musical journey with drums before turning to electronic production, Horvat has developed a style that balances melodic richness with peak-time energy. His remix of Preludio pushes the track into darker, more physical territory, adding heavier analog layers, reinforcing the mid-low range, and expanding the stereo field, making it suitable for the dancefloor’s most intense moments. Functional and durable, the remix gives DJs a reliable tool for peak-time sets while preserving the track’s underlying tension.
The launch of YES TO ALL Records signals more than a one-off collaboration. With their combined decades of experience, international perspective, and label infrastructure, D‑Formation and Medina are positioning the imprint as a long-term platform for underground music that serves the dancefloor above all else.
