Ziger – Horizon (Welcome Music)

Ziger

The seventh release on Welcome Music features the return of Ziger to the label for a brand new single entitled ‘Horizon’.

Ziger

The Greek producer first appeared on the Russian imprint with a remix of Blusoul’s ‘Code Talkers’ which was released in February of this year. His debut single for Welcome Music marks his first original material since March of last year when ‘Shadows’ was released courtesy of Lowbit Records.

Ziger has stuck to his pure progressive house roots over the last few years and he continues with ‘Horizon’. Getting underway with a driving groove and galloping rhythms you get an immediate peak time sense from it. Buzzing electronics and spacey designs then begin to obliterate your senses just as the first breakdown is reached. Here epic chord changes lead an eventful break which culminates with peaking sonics and acid rhythms. The second half is even more action packed with a relentless drive and those distinctive chord changes delivering a wonderful old school moment. Great stuff from Ziger.

The first interpretation of ‘Horizon’ is provided by Desaturate who is making his first appearance on Welcome Music. Well known as one half of the Progress Inn duo Janko Dragovic aka Desaturate has been enjoying much success since debuting the new alias in February. In fact his first ever release, an EP for E Sound Records may go down as one of the year’s best artist debuts. Subsequent appearances on Sound Avenue and Lowbit Records have also been excellent and he’s delivered a superb remix of ‘Horizon’ here. With a more spacious and groovy feel Desaturate has complemented the old school flavoured original very well. The galloping rhythms have been dubbed down a touch but the rolling energy is still conveyed pretty well, and the drums, which are sensational add mightily to the groove. It’s running time is quite long at 10 minutes but there’s enough subtle hypnotic hooks to really make it work quite well. Awesome remix from Desaturate.

The second and final interpretation of ‘Horizon’ is provided by Mindshield who is making his first appearance on Welcome Music. Cristian Tate aka Mindshield hails from Argentina and has been pushing his deep progressive sound since September of 2012. It’s been a quiet year thus far for Cristian with just one remix released courtesy of Stellar Fountain in April. For his ‘Horizon’ interpretation Cristian has delivered a downtempo electronica piece which complements the previous two mixes very well. Broken beats, razor sharp percussion and electric designs make for a wicked vibe early. Long gaseous sweeps and a soft atmospheric overlay add a subtle dream-like quality to the track while indistinct vocal pads add a wonderful human element. Solid remix from Mindshield and a top notch release from Welcome Music once again. Don’t miss it.
