The latest release on Clinique Recordings welcomes Amezquita to the label for his debut EP.
Hailing from Colombia Amezquita has become one of his country’s most promising electronic music talents. His three year career has been highlighted by appearances on Soundteller Records and Sonnet Speciale. Now making his much anticipated Clinique Recordings debut Amezquita presents his latest two track EP entitled ‘Reckless’.
Beginning with the title cut we see more of Amezquita’s unique progressive sound that he’s become so loved for. Anchored by a deep, hypnotic groove the Colombian slowly works dubby rhythms and glacial synths into the driving framework. Intriguing vocal elements soon appear along with a healthy dose of fresh effects before a short break and complementary build ups the energy a few notches. As the third act evolves Amezquita brings more vocal elements and laser like lines into the mix but it’s done in such an effortless way that the track never loses it’s cool hypnotic flow. Wonderful stuff from the Colombian artist.
The companion piece ‘Time Is Collapsing’ comes in a bit more techno inspired which sits as a great complement to ‘Reckless’. Beginning with tough beats and a driving, acidic groove it certainly sets a big presence early. Phasing hypnotic lines, pulsating bass tones and haunting vocal elements make for a peak time vibe all throughout the first act. As the modulation gets a slight crank the main break ensues with muted beats and clattering percs keeping the groove locked before some great filter work delivers the final blow. Massive stuff from Amezquita which rounds out a killer release for Clinique Recordings. Don’t miss it.
