Biologik makes a very welcome return to the Particles imprint with the lovely ‘Metaphysical’, while British producer Orsen seriously impresses on remix duties.

If you’re not already a fan of Biologik’s sound, I doubt that ‘Metaphysical’ is the track that’ll bring you around – in terms of feel and style, it’s of a piece with what we’ve come to expect from him. For the same reason, though, fans waiting for a Biologik-fix won’t be disappointed in the slightest, with the track boasting punchy drums, a warm and robust bassline, and characteristically understated but moving pads and delicately rippling melodic lines. A real beauty, for sure.

Orsen’s remix of Biologik’s track is simply superb. The moody intro already lets Orsen’s pizzicato take on Biologik’s main melody creep in, setting the scene for the remix’s powerful bassline and rousing percussion. There’s a really nice hazy feel to the track too, and the melodies are subtle while adding texture and emotion. This is fantastic work from Orsen, a producer that I’ll clearly need to be watching more carefully in the future.

This is another treat from Biologik and Particles, with both the beautiful original and Orsen’s outstanding remix being well worth your time.
