The third release on Specific Music welcomes Federico Monachesi to the label for this debut EP.
The Argentinean artist has been a mainstay of the Balkan Connection and Soundteller rosters in recent years and also boasts appearances on Classound Recordings and Genesis Music. Now making his much anticipated Specific Music debut Federico presents his latest EP entitled ‘In The Shade’.
We last heard from Federico with his remix of Marcelo Paladini’s ‘Flying Bubble’ from July of this year. Specific Music meanwhile has just come off the release of Frangellico’s ‘Sugar Free’ EP from the beginning of August. Although just the label’s second release it enjoyed much success (just like the first) with an extended stay in Beatport’s Progressive House chart. Run by one of Russia’s most creative DJ’s Yegor Tsarkov the label has been one of the underground’s most pleasant surprises this year. With just two simple and mature projects (the first being from Dmitry Molosh) Specific Music has already made its mark. Here Federico delivers some of his finest work to date beginning with the title cut ‘Into The Shade’. Anchored with a groovy foundation and murky, mysterious textures the piece builds a strong hypnotic cadence. Vibrant stabs soon light up the atmosphere as icy pads rise off in the distance. There are a variety of moods coming from this one and a stripped down second act with feathered motifs only adds to the intrigue. The track avoids any major break which only lends itself to being more of a late night groover and thus keeps it’s cool hypnotic qualities intact throughout.
The companion piece ‘Dogma’ follows a similar design profile and in many ways sounds like In The Shade’s little brother. The foundation is packed with a touch more funk and roll while the rhythmic qualities are just as infectious. Again a stripped down second act ups the tension with some icy motifs eventually peaking before the bassline and full complement of drums gets let loose for a great finale. Two awesome cuts from Federico which are already rising in the Beatport charts so make sure to get your copies. Another top notch release from Yegor Tsarkov’s Specific Music. Highly Recommended.
