‘Dizzy Moments’ is a gentle, melodic affair, pitched somewhere between Guy J’s more typical progressive sound and melodic techno. The heart of the track is the delicate, rippling main theme, echoed by the subdued bass part, while the percussion is treated with a similarly light touch. The beauty of the track and its lengthy outro will ensure that it’s destined to close out a lot of sets over the coming summer months.
‘Diaspora’ is a bit more clubby, with a pulsing bassline, sci-fi effects, and heavy kicks, but the warm sweeps that appear after a minute and a half are an early clue that Guy J’s melodic touch is in full effect here too. A brief breakdown introduces trancier elements, before the percussion is let off the hook and the track really comes to life. The trance lines are brought to the fore later in the track during a slightly longer breakdown, now accompanied by gentle chimes, and this time Guy J lets the melodies float over the warm bassline as the track climbs out of the breakdown, giving ‘Diaspora’ its best sequence.
Both tracks here are really nice, though its clear that ‘Dizzy Moments’ boasts much stronger ideas, and is set to create a bigger stir. All in, this is another very strong release for Guy J and Lost & Found. 8.5/10
