Robert R. Hardy – Way For Work (Welcome Music)

The latest release on Welcome Music welcomes Robert R. Hardy back to the label for his debut single.

Robert R. Hardy - Way For Work

The Hungarian artist last appeared on the Russian imprint in February of this year with a remix of Anton Make’s ‘Tell Me’. Now we see Robert presenting his first single for Welcome Music alongside remixes from Anthony G and Li-Polymer.

The original mix kicks the release off and finds Robert crafting a funky, percussive journey. Anchored by what would have to be one of the Hungarian’s most unique bass lines to date the piece flows through a variety of ethereal vocal elements and gnarly synth stabs. For as progressive minded as the elements are it still comes off quite housy because of uniqueness of the groove. It’s no doubt got an amazing dance floor sensibility and avoiding the obligatory long break does wonders for its flow. Top notch stuff from Robert and one of his most distinctive grooves to date.

Welcome Music has selected two excellent remixers here in Anthony G and Li-Polymer. First up Anthony G makes his label debut and takes things in a more melodic direction. While staying very true to the main themes during the first act it does come off a bit darker before waves of synths descend over the framework for a luminous effect. Definitely a more progressive minded interpretation than Robert’s original and the added melodic elements give it a new-found vibe that’s both trippy and a touch emotional as well. Great remix from Anthony.

Closing the release out is Li-Polymer who is making his first appearance on Welcome Music. The Portuguese artist is on the cusp of releasing one of the year’s best EPs for Movement Recordings and seems to grow with each and every outing. With a deeper, more atmospheric approach Li-Polymer has transformed ‘Way For Work’ into an exquisite beauty. Delicate beats and a subversive groove anchor the framework while acid motifs and radiant textures create a dreamlike atmosphere. The vocals too, although used sparingly come off much more indistinct and ultimately blend into the hazy harmonious sheath which houses the groove. Another dreamy wonder from Li-Polymer and a strong conclusion to the release. A great package from Welcome Music. Don’t miss it.
