The second release on False Face Music finds label founder Hamed Safi debuting his new SpeakOf alias.
Long known in the deep and tech house underground as Beat Syndrome, the Toronto, Canada resident now begins 2017 with a fresh moniker. It’s been a multiple year transition from more progressive oriented sounds to where Hamed sits now which is a deeper, more techno inspired blueprint.
The release begins with its title and showcase piece ‘Gamma’ which is an excursion into deep, hypnotic techno. It’s astral vibe is immediately compelling, while a warm, mountainous foundation makes it great for the dance floor. The standout element though would have to be the arps which cascade with a cosmic flair and make for a very enjoyable seven minute journey.
‘Goose Drama’ meanwhile comes in equally warm and fluid but with a vocal storyboard which takes things into ethereal sounding territory. Chopped and wonderfully processed they create a heavenly vibe early on before some lovely synth work and smooth chord changes deliver many magic moments along the way.
The release concludes with ‘Junction’ which is likely the funkiest and most musical of the three cuts. Undeniably groovy it flows through a myriad of emotive motifs all while keeping a great dance floor sensibility. Sublime pad work gives it a reflective tone while chord stabs bring a soulful mood, particularly during the main break which seals it’s brilliance. A great debut for Hamed’s SpeakOf alias and a superb second release for False Face Music. Highly Recommended.
