Tulipa are back with a new track from brother in rhythm Dave Seaman, ‘Sparkle Motion’, with terrific remixes from Piemont and Spartaque.
Dave Seaman’s original is very much of a piece with his recent fantastic outing on Sudbeat, with a similar balance of hypnotic sounds and speaker-rattling power, as hard-as-nails percussion and a rumbling, menacing bass are offset against sparse, abstract hooks.
Piemont lighten the mood of the track, with a minimalist but funky bassline and chiming loops providing the backdrop for some hazy, lazy organ and synth lines. One for the summer months ahead, for sure.
Finally, Spartaque take the track in the opposite direction, playing up the heavier elements of the track to turn it into a churning techno monster. Percussion of mass destruction, a simple but brutal bassline, and a creepy vocal sample set the tone, while Dave Seaman’s hooks reverberate out on top. The energy levels on this remix are irresistible, and it’s probably my pick of the three versions.
This is an excellent release from Tulipa, with a strong original from Dave Seaman setting up two quality remixes that each manage to push the track in a fresh direction.
