Michael A – Down So Long (Genesis Music)

The latest release on Genesis Music finds label boss Michael A returning to the spotlight with a brand new EP.

The Belarus based artist is fresh off an EP for Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music and also boasts 2017 releases on Sound Avenue and Proton Music. Now returning to his comfortable home Michael presents his latest EP entitled ‘Down So Long’.

Beginning with the title cut we find Michael at his progressive best with a fluid, energetic production. Tough kicks and a meaty groove lay down a solid foundation before the Belarus artist slowly works in his distinctive drum elements. Pixie-like melodies then steal the air as emotional chord changes move through the groove. A shimmering break sits as the perfect centrepiece before getting washed away with dark undertones and the grinding groove. A bigtime track from Michael.

The companion piece ‘Odyssee’ comes in deeper, groovier and with a greater atmospheric flair. The spacious foundation is full of wonderful swing as dulcet motifs meander about with a charming resonance. A headier production and one with a lot of unique quirks along the way. A perfect complement to the bigger lead cut and a great way to round out the EP. Two more beauties from Michael and another awesome release for his Genesis Music imprint. Don’t miss it.
