Hamed Safi aka Speakof launches his new imprint Falseface Music this week with a stellar EP from Santini.
Having listened to Hamed’s music for many years as Beat Syndrome and having heard talk of him starting a label this is quite exciting. He’s an artist with incredible taste so Falseface Music is an anticipated endeavor by many. The first release features an EP from Santini who also co-owns the label. Hailing from Brazil but now living in Canada, Santini has been working as a mixing engineer for a Toronto based recording studio for the last 10 years. Also holding an impressive discography, Santini has appeared on Tenampa Records, Submarine Vibes and Thoughtless Music. Now launching his Falseface imprint on a great note Santini presents his much anticipated two track EP ‘Animo’.
The EPs first selection and also title cut is a deeper, techno inspired creation with a strong rhythmic storyboard and many engaging moments. Backed by a warm, meditative groove the piece moves through smooth chord changes and character filled swells. This sets up the second act nicely, where the emotive core of the track comes to full fruition. There’s a hopeful feeling locked inside those melodies and the simplicity of it is quite timeless, making for a smooth drop and gorgeous finale.
The companion piece ‘Freedom’ comes in more melodic but with an equally strong design profile. Again the warmth of the foundation is really lovely, very inviting while the mesmerizing arps intertwine for many engaging moments along the way. It’s always the simplest elements that seem to add that final piece of the sonic puzzle and here it’s a lone vocal stab bringing that extra emotive punch, providing the icing on the cake, so to speak. Two gorgeous tracks from Santini and a great debut for Falseface Music. Very much looking forward to watching this label grow and have an amazing first year. Highly Recommended.
