“Hollen” is a DJ and producer who is certainly on his game right now and has been for quite sometime. We have recently had the pleasure of experiencing more frequently released productions from this Italian power player and the journey continues with yet another.

On this release he has teamed up with the two production brothers of “Fabrizio and Matteo Floris” who make up “Mr. Bizz”. Mr. Bizz are also Italian making this another contribution to the outstanding quality of music that this country is offering right now. “Mr. Bizz” is also an act that also tells their own story. They have some fantastic music out there that’s been pushing the right buttons and hitting the right labels.

Hosting the release is “Prospect Records” who some of you will know is also “Hollen’s” own label. The label I find is very reflective out his own style but not just musically but also in presence of hi quality and from notable modern artists. If you haven’t heard much from “Prospect Records” then please go check them out and you’ll be treated to features from acts such as “Alberto Ruiz”, “Tony dee”, “Raffaele Rizzi”, “The Yellow Heads” as well as “Hollen” himself.

Getting into the two tracks on this ep with both titles being inspired by two countries mythologies its starts with “Jana”. The title “Jana” like the “Sardinian” mythology attached to the name is a building vampire esque driven groove from the outset. It’s quite dark in mood with an embedded padded riser that subtlety adds an affectional quality. Carefully placed vocal snippets are used well and it’s hypnotic with detail.

The next track “Parthenope” which follows Greek mythology and is more of a peak time club exhibit that quickly provides techno pounce with a rounded kick. Atmosphere is created with softer sounds locked into the groove. There’s a dynamic break in the middle of the track that builds in anticipation, then right back to the pound of the groove with funky delayed synth parts. It’s the kind of track that will cross the boarders between the techno listener and the deeper prog and will be shaking many big sound systems.

Synopsis = more impressive action from “Hollen” who is proving to be momentous.
