Istanbul born deep tech house artist Onur Ozman has a strong track record, hailing releases on high profile labels like Noir Music and has releases pending on Ovum and Sincopat. Here we look at his brand new release on Comport Records.
How old are you, where are you living and how long have you been producing and Djing?
Onur Ozman: Under 30 and iโm living in Zurich, Switzerland. Iโve been producing and DJing for almost a decade.
What made you get in to dance music?
Onur Ozman: I am a futuristic person and i like living in the future. This feeling brought me to the electronic dance music. This is the music of our time and the music of future.
Where was your first gig?
Onur Ozman: Originally iโm coming from Istanbul underground music scene and i got my first gigs there. I owe too much to this scene in the development of my music.
How difficult was learning to produce for you in the beginning?
Onur Ozman: I am still learning but Iโve never thought it has been difficult so far. It is rather a fantastic feeling to discover new possibilities of producing and keep learning.
Talk to us about your latest release and the inspiration behind it.
Onur Ozman: After my EP ‘A Vintage Paraphraseโ on Noir Music in 2015 Iโve shifted my music in an emotional direction. I think there is more emotion in sex than in usual relationships and i wanted to indicate this notion with this EP ‘Dirty Talkโ. I think, people become more authentic when they show more intimacy and this is really attractive for everybody even if they admit or not.

Whatโs the music scene like where you live and how often are you playing?
Onur Ozman: Zurich is not a big city but the music scene is very intense. There are many clubs which offer high quality music. The artists here are like a big family and i love this constellation. Iโm playing more or less once a month locally. Otherwise iโm traveling abroad.
Which other DJs or producers are you liking right now?
Onur Ozman: Recently iโm going back to roots and listening Robert Hood and Perc very often. But i recently also really love the music of Black Loops a lot.

Tell us about your DJ setup
Onur Ozman: My DJ setup is nothing special – what matters is my selection of music. But this year iโm starting to perform live with my MC friend Lazarusman and itโs gonna be very exclusive.
Whatโs been your biggest achievement
Onur Ozman: Adoring my life to music has been my biggest achievement so far. The rest has been a very normal outcome of hard work.
What can we expect from you soon
Onur Ozman: This year iโve many upcoming tracks and as i mentioned iโm starting with my live performance, which is a new challenge for me. Iโm ready to surprise you all.
