With Adwer’s ‘Multiverse’ out this week on 238W, we take a look at his favourite tracks of the moment in the latest edition of What’s In Your Box?
1. Cryptik – Radiance [Figure]
“I’ll start the list in no particular order, but this track is just mindblowing to open a set and drags immediate attention, even if it is not new anymore. It has all the beauty of the dark melancholic electronica that I am forever in love with. Johannes Heil at his best.”
2. Nicole Moudaber Old Soul (Young But Not New) [Intec]
“This is a super fresh track that has just been released. I am always amazed by that trademark Moudaber-groove that is present in most of her productions. On the top layers of it there is some enormous orchestral sounding beauty that makes this track bigger than huge!”
3. Recondite – Warg [Hotflush]
“I have heard this track last summer when Recondite performed his live show in Hungary. Around the end of 2o15 I said to myself, that this was the track of the year…finally it got released recently. The sonic world that Recondite creates is going into my veins directly.”
4. Steve Rachmad – Disturbance [Drumcode]
“It’s not easy to describe why I love this track so much. This is the kind of repetitive, technically genious techno that no matter how long it loops, I wouldn’t loose attention. Definitely not an overplayed track, but I’m still hooked onto it.”
5. Alex Niggemann – Convection [Aeon audio]
“Alex Niggemann is one of my favorite producers and I think it is not easy to stand out among many talented melodic techno geniuses, but he puts something special on the table every time. The energy flow, celestial melody, harmonies and stripped down rhythmic elements are the hallmarks of an incredible piece of work.”
6. Daso & Pawas – No Lead (Chymera Remix)[Soulfooled]
“Another gem with those gated synths and unusual but very smooth interconnection between two melody lines – this track must draw the attention of all geeks like me out there! I’ve played this track quite many times for my listening pleasure at home, this is a seal of proof that I trust over time and I’ll play it tomorrow again for sure!”
7. Agents of Time – Obsidian [Ellum]
“The first word that comes to my mind about this track is “SICK”. It’s abnormal, weird and genious. I’m an AOT follower since the very beginning when they came out on Stem records. Now they are first tier electronic act for a reason and this one came out on Maceo Plex’ Ellum – they make no mistake! I have seen them perform live during the ADE last october and it was quite an experience.”
8. Walking with kings – Kaiser [Inward records]
“Another fresh release as we speak, that is a beautiful surprise to all of those who seek electronic music that is forward thinking. Those unusual twisted-tweaked synths have caught my attention immediately, and I was surprised to see that the track was composed by a yet-not-known-to-me duo, as it sounds perfectly polished and outstanding.”
9. Kurt Baggaley – Winterland (Petar Dundov remix) [Chapter24]
“I’ve just received this promo a few days ago from one of the best up and coming melodic deep labels, Chapter 24. This is a magic, beautiful and joyful trip, a-la Petar Dundov. I could spot out of 1ooo tracks that it was made by him, that trademark Dundov sound is all over the place, what a complex beauty, yet not confusing.”
10. Pisetzky – Elevation [Just This]
“Last up is another recent release that came out on Hunter/Game’s ‘Just This’ imprint. This track is a great example of that dark, trancey, melodic techno that is so close to my heart and is very dominant in my radio shows and sets. I can never get enough of the atmosphere and feel of tracks like this, I guess it goes back to my roots, because these are the harmonies that give me chills since I was a kid.”
