AGM & Quintrix – Interceptor (Babylon Records)

One of the real hidden gems towards the end of last year was AGM & Quintrix’s ‘Rise Of The Shadows’ EP which was released on System Recordings. It was an outstanding three track outing for the Spanish duo who were previously best known for remixing Funk D’Void’s ‘Italoca’. This week sees their debut on Babylon Records which as many of you already know is a division of the UK’s Baroque Records. The duo has crafted two more incredible tracks for the EP and it gets 2014 off to a great start for them.

The lead track ‘Interceptor’ starts the EP off with a trippy tech house vibe that’s got a great dance floor sensibility about it. The pulsating low end modulates for what results in a very unique groove and the vocal stabs are also quite refreshing. As the record progresses the atmosphere begins to grow and the vocal stabs intensify mightily. It’s quite an epic build which peaks around the half way point of the track. You would expect some big break here but no the track just strips down and charges ahead with great momentum. Perfect for keeping the energy on the dance floor high and rising! The companion piece ‘Under The Garage’ is actually my favourite on the release. The energy here is just completely infectious; the wide array of sweeping electronics, claps and vocal bits is astounding and they all work together for the ultimate groove. A series of quick builds, drops and fills throughout make for a rousing affair that just never lets up and is sure to be murder on the dance floor. Great EP from AGM & Quintrix, looking forward to what they do next.
