Oscar Holgado’s Symmetric Records returns this week for their sixth overall release. The label is fresh off its first ever compilation entitled ‘Shapes’ and now we see a brand new single from Alex Vidal. This will be the Spanish producer’s debut on Symmetric which follows several great releases on System Recordings, PHW Elements and Bonzai Records. Alex’s brand new single for Symmetric is entitled ‘Forever Falling’ and it comes with remixes from Jaap Ligthart and Matias Spataro.

The original mix leads the release off with a sultry hypnotic groove. Gaseous atmospheres and an electric drive give the track a great vibe straight away. As the piece builds heavenly pads rise up around the framework and the rhythmic components begin to work their magic. The main break allows the cascading keys to breathe nicely and as the atmosphere gets sweep away the groove returns for a nice moment. Definitely one for the old school aficionados out there and one of Alex’s best.

The first remix is provided by Jaap Ligthart who is also making his debut appearance on Symmetric Records. It’s been an amazing year for the Dutch producer that has been highlighted by releases on Manual Music and Perspectives Digital. I’ve always felt that Jaap was a hugely under-rated artist and this year he’s just finally getting some of the recognition he’s deserved for quite some time. There is a genre less quality that comes with most of his productions and it’s major factor as to why they age so well. For his ‘Forever Falling’ interpretation Jaap has overhauled the track into a deep late night gem. Backed by a spacious and hopelessly funky groove the Dutch producer has reinvented the melodic elements in a much more subtle and refined way for what results in a superb complement to the original.

The second and final remix is provided by Matias Spataro who is fresh off an amazing remix of Soulkeys ‘Chromachords’ on Balkan Connection South America. The Argentinean producer closes the release out strong with a radically revamped version of ‘Forever Falling’. Matias’ tougher more stripped back style has added a great complement to the original and also comes with some nice sound design. The masterfully processed electronics are the star of the show here and certainly tantalize the senses throughout the tracks 7 minute duration. A great remix from Matias and a top notch offering from Oscar Holgado’s Symmetric Records once again.
