The latest release on System Recordings features the return of Amezquita to the label. The Colombian producer last appeared with his remix of A+E’s ‘Mica’ which was released in April of this year. Amezquita’s new single for System Recordings is entitled ‘Sunstroke’ and it comes with remixes from: Stas Drive, Dio S., Alex Van Deep and Mark B.
Amezquita added some wonderful warmth and funkiness to ‘Mica’ and ‘Sunstroke’ carries a similarly wicked vibe. The Colombian’s grinding groove is full of character and drive which sets a great vibe early on.0 The gyrating synth lines and mesmerizing electronics make a vortex-like effect which just builds throughout the entire record. The heart of the piece is well complemented as well with soft vocal pads, hook heavy rhythms and emotional chord changes just adding to the overall brilliance of the groove. A big time single from Amezquita which should be dynamite on the dance floor.
The first remix and my favourite on the release comes from Stas Drive who is making his first appearance on System Recordings. The Ukrainian producer was undoubtedly one of the more talked about artists in 2013. Stas Drive delivered countless productions that earned club, radio and chart support from Hernan Cattaneo and Guy J. There was something about Stas Drive’s smooth hypnotic sound that caught the attention of the two storied DJs and it’s made him one of the more in demand remixers of the moment. His ‘Sunstroke’ interpretation has turned out exceptionally well as it’s given a funkier more dance floor friendly vibe to the original. Stas Drive’s spacious groove is surrounded by incredible drum elements, soft stabs and great vocal pads which add a cool eeriness to the track. It also sounds tailor made for a Guy J set so don’t be surprised if you hear the much loved DJ dropping this one in the near future. Excellent stuff!
The second remix is supplied by Dio S who is returning to System for his second appearance following the release of his ‘Mind Fucker’ single from April. The Greek producer has provided a very groovy rework of ‘Sunstroke’ which complements the previous two versions very well. Based purely on a funky, rolling groove Dio S has stripped the piece down and added his own take on the gyrating rhythms from the original which really works well. The waves of building energy are sure to be great for the dance floor and it’s also one of the Dio’s most club friendly pieces to date. Well done.
The third remix comes from Alex Van Deep who returns to System for his second appearance following the release of his ‘Formentera’ EP from March of this year. It was a great move having Alex remix ‘Sunstroke’ as he’s provided a much trancier and more melodic inspired interpretation. Alex has upped the BPM mightily and added some glistening harmonies which have already earned support form Armin van Buuren. New school trance fans all over this one.
The final remix comes from Mark B who is returning to System for his eighth overall appearance. The UK producer has put a melodic house twist on the production and the result is a warm, summery vibe that’s filled with great emotion. The vocal loops in particular are excellent; there’s a cool hypnotic swing that they generate and it just complements the groove and melodic elements perfectly. A very solid release from System recordings with Stas Drive’s mix really standing out. Don’t miss it!
