One of the more talked about Argentinean producers over the last year has been Guillermo Cornejo aka Antrim. His appearances on Perspectives Digital, Sound Avenue and Classound Recordings have been some of the best progressive house releases of the last year. This week Guille returns to System Recordings for his second appearance which follows his excellent ‘My Secret’ EP which was released in October of 2013. Antrim’s new single for System is entitled ‘Rita’ and it comes with remixes from: Lonya and Hector Merida.
There have been many fine productions in Antrim’s discography but I have to say that ‘Rita’ may be his crowning achievement thus far. Certainly a candidate for one of the most blissful tunes of the year. The unique vocal elements in combination with some marvelous orchestration are the perfect emotional complements. Then once you add in the tastefully constructed atmospheric sweeps and well textured bass stabs you’ve got a true masterpiece on your hands. If you’re a fan of well crafted emotional music then there is no reason not to have this in your collection. Excellent work from Antrim.
The first remix is supplied by Lonya who is making his debut on System Recordings. Lonya is based in Tel-Aviv and runs the Asymmetric Recordings label, he’s also a resident DJ at the well known The Cat & Dog club in Tel-Aviv. The cutting edge labels Sudbeat, Bpitch and Flow Vinyl appear in his discography and his productions are routinely supported and charted by Hernan Cattaneo. For his ‘Rita’ interpretation Lonya has delivered the perfect club complement to Antrim’s dreamy original. The Israeli producer’s tightly constructed groove is perfect for the dance floor and he’s managed to still convey the amazing emotion from the original albeit in a much more subtle and refined way. Could definitely see this one getting play from Hernan Cattaneo or Guy J and it ranks right up there with Lonya’s most well crafted productions.
The final remix comes from Hector Merida who is returning to System Recordings for his fifth overall appearance. The Los Angeles based producer has been a staple in the discography of not only System Recordings but also Baroque Records. His unique take on deep house and techno has found favour with many DJs and he’s provided an excellent remix of ‘Rita’ to close the release out. Hector’s crafted a more groove oriented piece here and it complements the previous two versions very well as it does offer something different. The melodic elements have been toned down considerably and the unique twist on the vocals is quite fresh sounding. It’s a perfect dance floor construction that can take the track to a much broader scope of DJs who might be looking for something a little bit different. Excellent stuff from Hector and a superb release from System Recordings.
