Arnim – Late Night EP (Crossfade Sounds)

Sound Avenue’s sister label Crossfade Sounds continues to impress with its broad and creative vision. The labels now boasts releases that have focused on electronica, techno, progressive house, tech house and deep house. Even though the labels sound is incredibly diverse the releases all seem to meld together quite well. Their last release from the undiscovered Israli talent Or Weisinger made a huge impact on the Beatport techno chart getting all the way to no.25 in just a matter of days. This week sees the label with their 10th overall release. Arnim first appeared on the labels ‘Crossing Borders’ compilation in February and here he returns for his first EP entitled ‘Late Night’ which includes three brand new original productions.

The title cut leads the EP off with some well processed electronics and a subby tech house groove. A wealth of rhythmic tones, subtle vocal elements and smooth electronic lines . The groove really gets beefed up at the 3 minute mark with a massive bass line getting introduced along with additional percussive elements which should sound fabulous on a club system. Some smooth chord changes about two thirds of the way through deliver an understated emotional climax that is quite exhilarating. Great start to the EP! The second track on the EP ‘Teufelswerk’ comes with much more of a clubby techno vibe. A chugging groove along with rough character laden synths bring some amazing energy early on. Additional vocal samples and raspy electronic hooks enhance the groove even further for what results in a real dance floor bomb that could work equally well on a tech house or techno oriented floor.

The final track on the EP ‘Cloudbase’ presents a cool hypnotic groove at the outset. Gorgeously deep undertones, drifting vocal gates and celestial sounding pads carry the track through a smooth centre section. The addition of a second bass line pumps the energy up even further but not without losing the serene atmospheric vibe. The track concludes with the plonky hypnotic sequence and panning instrumentation heightening the senses even further. This is a fabulous EP from Arnim and continued excellence from Crossfade Sounds. Highly Recommended. Release Promo Hype Chart Top 25
