The 20th release on Balkan Connection’s recently launched BC2 division features the debut of David Salazar to the label. The Mexican producer began his production career just over a year ago and has built up a nice discography with releases on 3rd Avenue and Massive Harmony Records. David’s first single for BC2 is entitled ‘Riviera Dreams’ and it comes with remixes from: Fiddler and Ilya Gerus.
Most of David’s productions thus far have come in conjunction with fellow countryman Alex Villanueva. In fact his only solo effort was for 3rd Avenue’s ‘We Are The Future’ Winter 2013 collection so it’s great to see a second solo project here. ‘Riviera Dreams’ clocks in at right around ten minutes and it’s a smooth progressive journey throughout. Filled with lovely atmospheres, subtle melodies and a warm underbelly it’s the perfect track for a relaxing summer day.
The first remix is supplied by Fiddler who is making his first appearance on BC2 following four appearances on their parent Balkan Connection division. The Hungarian producer has been busy this year with already 30 entries on his discography. His recent remix of Matias Chilano ‘Symmetry’ on Liquid Grooves was excellent and his interpretation of ‘Riviera Dreams’ is quite good as well. Opting for a deeper and groovier rework Fiddler has brought the production a bit closer to the dance floor while still retaining the atmospheric beauty of the original. Gorgeous vocal elements and sparkling sweeps highlight this serene journey and provide a great second half conclusion.
The second and final remix on the release is provided by Ilya Gerus who is also making his debut on BC2. The Russian producer formerly known as Ilya Deep switched over to his given name late last year and has already appeared on several great labels including Asymmetric Recordings and Baroque Records. For his ‘Riviera Dreams’ interpretation Ilya has crafted an even dreamier and more atmospheric rework that the original. The tracks ever growing bass swells and soft hypnotic resonance make it a great listen and one of Ilya’s lushest productions this year. Don’t miss it.
