Manual Music’s MNL offshoot returns this week for the labels 37th overall release. It features the return of Dustin Nantais to the label for his second appearance. The Canadian producer remixed Fatso’s ‘Asteria’ in March of this year for MNL and has also appeared on Trojan House, Recovery House and Mystery Train Recordings. Dustin’s debut EP for MNL is entitled ‘Dark Corner’ and it comes with two brand new original productions.
‘Beginnings’ is the lead track on the EP and it’s a gorgeous slice of laid back tech house. Full of subtle melodic themes and blissful harmonies it’s a production that is a true pleasure to listen to and still comes with a great dance floor sensibility as well. The building rhythms and slowly evolving melodies carry some wonderful emotion and all while retaining a contemporary class which is very inviting. The companion piece ‘Dark Corner’ is a much deeper, groove oriented production that complements ‘Beginnings’ very well. The spacious groove is nicely accented with well carved bass tones and a glacial atmospheric drift which gradually builds tension throughout. The lead theme in particular is really spectacular; a sequence of plucky melodic tones which works in perfect harmonic unison with the round bass stabs below. A highly memorable composition and it rounds out a spectacular EP from Dustin. Looking forward to hearing more him. Highly Recommended.
