Beat Syndrome’s ‘Two O Two’ got 2014 off to a great start for System Recordings and the US label continues its strong schedule with another top notch release this week. It features the return of Ignas Klej to the label for his second appearance. The Lithuanian producer first came to our attention when he appeared on Verche’s Sangria imprint in May of 2013. Following that Ignas had one of his tracks included on System’s ‘Futureshock 8.0’ compilation which was released just later that same month. There is a huge crop of up and coming electronic music talent in Lithuania and Ignas is one of many who is spearheading the charge. His new single for System Recordings is entitled ‘Known’ and it comes with two great remixes from: Dale Middleton and Phonic Scoupe.

The ‘Known’ original is a tough progressive house cut with a cool melodic edge. The rumbling groove which sits at the foundation comes with not only a big presence but a cool, rolling energy. Airy pads drift through the production and add a very angelic sounding vibe which works in perfect contrast to the menacing low end. As the piece builds several rhythmic elements further enhance the groove and take the track in to the main break. The subtle soundscapes of the drop set a wispy atmosphere before a very ethereal sounding vocal element is dropped in. It’s something that really sets the track apart from your regular run of the mill progressive house. It’s an element that runs nicely through the second half and makes the track much more memorable and a touch emotional as well. Solid stuff from Ignas.

The first remix is provided by Dale Middleton who was one of the most talked about producers in 2013. The UK producer continued his strong production ways with releases on Dopamine, Kunai, Afterglow and Lowbit to close out the year. Dale’s ‘Known’ interpretation completely reinvents the melodic subtleties from the original into something that is undeniably groovy. Dale’s incredibly cool hooks continue to build throughout the momentous framework until all the complementary themes come together following the break. It’s one of the those tracks where all the elements work in perfect union for the ultimate rhythmic apex. Fabulous work from Dale and expect to be hearing much more from him as 2014 progresses.

The second and final remix comes from Phonic Scoupe who are making their first appearance on System Recordings. This production trio hails from Lithuania and is made up of: Dzim, Tadas King and Dymukou. This newly formed studio team had three releases out in 2013 which all came courtesy of Stripped Recordings. Phonic Scoupe’s ‘Known’ interpretation adds a new progressive twist to Ignas’ original version. The general toughness and overall themes remain relatively intact but with a lot more drive and energy which makes it ideal for peak time play. The grinding underbelly of raspy synths are a definite nod to the old school and make for a very intense climax which ends the release off on a big note! Highly Recommended.
