The 44th release on 3rd Avenue finds the label showcasing one of the standout selections from their ‘We Are The Future’ winter collection. Mexican producers Kaban and Phase Modulation have both had successful solo careers having appeared on Baroque Records, Balkan Connection, Dopamine Music and Stellar Fountain. The duo have also collaborated on a few occasions in the past, most notably for a remix on Balkan Connection South America. Kaban and Phase Modulation’s first original production together was their contribution to ‘We Are The Future’ entitled ‘Deeper Reality’. The mid-tempo groover was filled with cool vocal elements, quirky rhythms and spacey electronics. It was one of the more unique pieces on the collection and for its single release we see new interpretations from: Deep Hertz, East Cafe and Kissoff.
The first interpretation is supplied by Deep Hertz who is making his first appearance on 3rd Avenue. The Dubai based producer has been a regular contributor to Balkan Connection Tech with 7 appearances in the last 8 months. For his ‘Deeper Reality’ interpretation Deep Hertz has slowed the tempo down just a touch and crafted a trippy, late night gem of a remix. The spacious framework allows the warm tones and spacey electronics to breathe wonderfully as the track flows through a myriad of interesting and somewhat warped themes. It’s a more than worthy complement to the original and should excite the more adventurous DJs out there.
The second interpretation is provided by East Cafe who is a busy man this week with a remix also out on System Recordings. The progressive community is anxiously awaiting the launch of his Time Capsule imprint which promises to be one of the coolest new labels this year. East Cafe’s take on ‘Deeper Reality’ is pretty much perfect. The Hungarian producer has remoulded all the cool elements from the original into a much smoother, warmer sounding slice of deep tech house. The records foundation is full of great shape and unique texture while the top end exudes an icy flow that should more than satisfy all the hypno lovers out there. Standout remix from East Cafe who is still one of the most under appreciated producers in the underground.
The third and final interpretation comes from Kissoff who has had a very busy 2014. The Russian producer started his production career just over a year ago and already has over twenty credits on his discography. Appearances on BQ Recordings, Clinique Recordings, BC2 and Stellar Fountain Deep have solidified Kissoff as one of the most promising new producers and his remix of ‘Deeper Reality’ is excellent as well. Opting for a more up-tempo, energetic rework Kissoff has provided a great complement to the other versions here. The spacey qualities from the original are well conveyed but in a much more serene and glacial like fashion. It’s deep techno sensibilities are quite alluring and it’s a not only a pleasant listen but should prove quite effective on the right dance floor. Top notch release from 3rd Avenue.
