The latest release on Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic’s Mistique Music welcomes Kay-D back to the label for a brand new single.
The Hungarian artist has been a mainstay of the Mistique roster dating all the way back to the labels second ever release. Now over six years later Kay-D has amassed over 60 releases on the global imprint. His latest entitled ‘You Are The Best Thing In My Life’ promises to be one of his best and includes remixes from Robert R. Hardy and Subconscious Tales.
Kay-D has long been revered for his melody crafting prowess and he’s certainly come up with more old school magic here. The chuggy foundation is quite powerful and the accompanying vocal elements and piano motifs take the vibe close to trance territory. The piano storyboard evolves during the main break and amidst the blissful atmospheres and gentle vocal elements it’s quite a heartfelt moment. For years Kay-D has been coming up with these tear jerking melodies and this might be one of his all time best. The third act finishes the track off in dramatic fashion with the synths soaring a touch higher and the vocal elements bouncing off each other for a gorgeous conclusion. Wonderful track from Kay-D.
The first interpretation of ‘You Are The Best Thing In My Life’ is provided by Robert R. Hardy who is returning to Mistique for his fifth appearance. Robert is fresh off two excellent releases last week for Time Capsule and Stellar Fountain where he once again demonstrated his prowess for deep and charming grooves. For his ‘You Are The Best Thing In My Life’ interpretation Robert has taken those great vocal elements and a small portion of the atmospheres and crafted a smooth, dubby revision which absolutely rocks. Hazy harmonies meld wonderfully with the round grooves and a captivating breakdown sets up a wicked finale. Excellent remix from Robert.
The second and final interpretation of ‘You Are The Best Thing In My Life’ is provided by Subconscious Tales who is making his fourth appearance on Mistique Music. Latvian producer Ivars Tiliks aka Subconscious Tales last appeared on the Michael, Levan and Stiven Rivic owned imprint in March of this year with his ‘Something Out There’ EP. The two track offering proved to be some of his finest work to date and he’s followed that up with an excellent remix here. Ivars’ deep and driving groove sets a big presence early while a lovely band of rhythms and vocal gates fill the air. This sits nicely between the Original and Robert’s stylistically so it’s a great addition to the package and the somewhat stripped down third act proves to be one of the best moments on the release. Great remix from Subconscious Tales and a top notch release from Mistique Music. Don’t miss it.
