The 230th release on Balkan Connection sees Marc Pollen returning to the label. We’ve been fans of the Dutch producer since his early releases on Quarterlife back in 2010. Marc’s grown immensely as a producer in the last 3 years and his contemporary tech house sound has earned support from Hernan Cattaneo, Dave Seaman, Cid Inc. and Eelke Kleijn. Marc’s new EP for Balkan Connection is entitled and it comes with 3 brand new original tracks.

The rolling grooves of ‘Looking Back’ get the EP underway and what immediately stands out is the crispness of the production. Vibrant claps, bubbly rhythms and quirky acid accents lead to the introduction of some much bigger lead elements. These big synths provide an immense widescreen sound as the track breaks down for a brief moment. The stripped groove quickly returns though with a greater sense of momentum. Fluttery melodic lines and some epic synths slowly build some nice tension which escalates to a perfect climax which avoids ‘the big breakdown’. A Great lead track from Marc.

The second cut ‘You Groove Me’ comes with a deeper more sultry tech house groove which is absolutely infectious. Wonderful beat patterns and shuffling percs enhance the groove mightily while flashes of wicked electronics play with your senses nicely. Rhythmic stabs build and modulate through the centre section of the record as the wispy atmospheric backdrop continues to evolve. It’s a smooth and floor friendly finish where the grooviness of the record can’t be overstated, it’s just brilliant. Perfect warmup material for a progressive house DJ or perfect midset action for a deep house or tech house DJ. The EP closes with ‘Soul For You’ which is another up tempo tech house affair with a nice variety of hooks that are sure to please your dance floor. The collection of tracks here is outstanding, Marc’s productions have always impressed but these are some of his finest creations. Hernan Cattaneo thinks so to as he’s lending his support to this release. Highly Recommended. Release Promo Hype Chart Top 25
