The latest release on Mistique Music welcomes Mathew Lynch back to the label for a new EP.
The Buenos Aires based producer is making his third appearance on the Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic owned imprint, and he has also released on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music. Mathew’s new EP for Mistique is entitled ‘Dark Spot’ and it includes two brand new originals.
The EP begins with the title cut ‘Dark Spot’ which goes on a marvellous ten minute plus journey into hypnotic progressive house. Glimmering electronics, indistinct vocal elements and a developing melodic theme carry the track nicely into the main break. The serene drop spans well over a minute and while it’s quite calming there’s a discernible tension in those sustaining tones. The beats are welcomed back with a kaleidoscopic trail of keys and once those blissful pads descend it’s a beautiful moment. Gorgeous work from Mathew.
The companion piece ‘Mammal’ also clocks in at ten minutes and is an equally inspired journey. More indistinct vocals, feathered hats and tough beats lead the way early before a more distinct set of motifs get introduced. The mood of piece lifts considerably with a steady build up to a classy apex of shimmering melodies, which closes the EP out on a strong note. Two solid cuts from Mathew and a great release from Mistique Music.
