Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic – Topless (Kunai Records)

Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic return to their newly created Kunai imprint for the labels second release. The trios first offering for Kunai entitled ‘Priority’ earned much success with chart support coming in from: Guy J, Cid Inc. and Luke Porter. Kunai Records is now pleased to present Michael and Levan and Stiven Rivic’s newest studio creation ‘Topless’ which comes with remixes from: Dale Middleton and Yamil Colucci.

The smoother more refined sounds that Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic have showcasing all through 2013 have never sounded better on ‘Topless’. The trio have crafted an undeniably groovy framework that’s rooted with a warm rolling foundation that oozes character. The cosmic sprinkles and swirling harmonic backdrop tantalize the senses as the main break approaches. The drop allows the sultry sounds to breathe and eventually give way for a subtle sonic conclusion that brings the luscious groove back in for a quality finish.

The first remix is provided by the hugely popular and highly prolific Dale Middleton. The UK producers ever expanding discography now includes Outside The Box, DAR Digital, Perspectives, Sound Avenue, Lowbit, Dopamine, Classound and Juicebox. Regarded by many as one of 2012’s greatest new talents Dale has now firmly established his place at the top of the progressive house underground. Dales’s ‘Topless’ interpretation takes the sultry deep vibes from the original and recreates them wonderfully over a hearty progressive groove. The well sequenced stabs are the ultimate harmonic complement to the flickering hypnotics and airy backdrop. The glimmering break concludes with a tastefully restrained build and perfect payoff that brings the huge groove home for what is sure to be a big moment on the floor.

The final remix is provided Yamil Colucci who is making his first appearance on Kunai. The Argentinean producer has been a long time favourite of Nick Warren. The famed UK DJ has included one of Yamil’s productions on his prestigious Balance compilation as well as his own Hope Recordings imprint. Yamil’s ‘Topless’ interpretation proves to be the ideal complement for the two previous more progressive mixes. Yamil’s funky foundation adds a much housier flair and the hook heavy plucks enhance the groove perfectly. Yamil reinvents the strong harmonic component during the main drop which sets the stage nicely for a great finish.
