Miraculum – Whirlwinder (Clinique Recordings)

Hungarian producer Miraculum has been red hot lately and so has Clinique Recordings for that matter. The run of releases Miraculum has had over the last 2 months has been really impressive. Everything that comes out of his studio sounds like it’s from another planet and this week Clinique Recordings has one of his best yet entitled ‘Whirlwinder’ which includes remixes from Ajmal & Dmitry Molosh.

The original mix is unmistakably Miraculum with it’s a brooding vibe, techy percussion and haunting vocal pads. Like all Miraculum tracks all the sounds are very fresh and different but somehow all work together really well. The magic moment comes when a subtle hypno synth slowly fades into the mix and eventually reveals a big bubbly, effervescent sounding lead line that is full of character and shape. The modulation, chord changes and interwoven intricacies that follow are just marvellous and an immense pleasure to listen to. Fabulous stuff as usual from MiraculuM.

The first remix is provided by Ajmal who is returning to Clinique for his second appearance. The Indian producer first appeared on Clinique with his two track ‘Radiation’ EP which was released in May of this year. Add to that his remix for System Recordings was just released last week and he’s delivered a very cool remix of ‘Whirlwinder’ here. Ajmal has opted for a much housier interpretation and it complements the otherworldly original very well. The outstanding groove makes it ideal for the floor and it still carries much of the great vibes from the original.

The final remix on the release comes from Dmitry Molosh who we have been loving of late. The Belarus based producer has been delivering really cool productions for Magic Room, Sleepless Nights and Stellar Fountain Deep in recent months and we think he’s one of the top up and coming talents right now. Dmitry’s ‘Whirlwinder’ interpretation tightens the groove up and adds a wispier more hypnotic vibe to the framework. The build during the main breakdown is pretty special with all the mods and atmospherics tweaked just right for maximum tension before the huge groove comes back in for a nice finish. Another solid release from Clinique and more brilliance from Miraculum. Highly Recommended.
