The latest release on Balkan Connection finds the label showcasing new remixes of Napalm & d-phrag ‘For The Love of Machines’.
Originally released in June of this year the progressive stormer included remixes from Subandrio, Matter and Kissoff. Now we see MNR and Cetera providing new interpretations along with the previously unreleased Matter Dub.
The first interpretation of ‘For The Love of Machines’ is provided by MNR who is making his fourth appearance on Balkan Connection. The Canadian producer has become a favourite of many in the progressive house underground over the last few years. His trippy, musical style is a welcome addition to any project and he’s turned in an excellent interpretation of ‘For The Love of Machines’. Aptly coined ‘Euphoric Arrival’ MNR’s version is a cosmic voyage into swirling atmospheres and tripped out melodies. There’s a variety of hypnotic motifs running through this and they all meld together for a wall of cosmic bliss. The long vocal sweeps, although kept to a minimum add a haunting element which just makes the track at various points. Beautiful work once again from MNR.
The second selection finds Matter presenting his previously unavailable dub mix. The Aussie producer was one of the remix standouts on the initial release with a driving, hypnotic interpretation that was filled with all of his wonderful production hallmarks. Here we see a much deeper and dubbier interpretation which is full of spacy sounds and glacial rhythms. There’s a wicked atmospheric haze which runs through the whole thing and that combined with those amazing dubby qualities really lend it to late night play. Amazing work from Matter who seems to always be on good form!
The third and final interpretation is provided by Cetera who is making his first appearance on Balkan Connection. The South African producer first appeared in December of 2013 on the USessions label. He then went on to record originals and remixes for John OO Fleming’s JOOF Records and OLD SQL Recordings. Here he steps up and makes his debut on Balkan Connection with a wonderful remix of ‘For The Love of Machines’ to close the release out. The South African has made great use of the original elements and crafted a deeper more spacious complement to the huge original. The grainy vocal elements and fuzzy electronics sound absolutely amazing and eventually lead the track to a very unique breakdown. There’s a glitchy edited section followed by some kaleidoscopic bass tones and rolling atmospheres which all combine for a monumentally tripped out conclusion. Awesome remix from Cetera here who closes the release out very strong. Superb remix pack from Balkan Connection. Don’t miss it.
